Welcome to FASTChoice, Middlebury College's online tool for selecting an Alternative (Private) loan. Middlebury College suggests families consider utilizing Federal loan(s) eligibility before applying for an Alternative (Private) loan. Federal loans have rights for borrowers that Alternative (Private) loans may not offer and usually have lower interest rates associated. Please contact Student Financial Services at Middlebury College to apply for Federal Direct Stafford Loans, if you have not already done so.
If you borrow an Alternative (Private) loan, you may choose any lender. Middlebury College is partnering with FASTChoice to assist you in selecting a lender. This tool is provided by Great Lakes Higher Education Assistance Corporation (GLHEAC), a guarantor and servicer of student loans. FASTChoice allows users to view side-by-side comparisons of benefits and loan terms to assist students and their families in selecting the best option for an Alternative (Private) loan. You will not see every lender on FASTChoice, this neutral list is merely a starting point. FASTChoice is a tool which will select a lender. Most lenders will communicate with Middlebury College electronically after you have made application, and been approved for your loan.
